Terms and Conditions of Registration - Professional Learning 

Privacy - Personal Information

All personal information collected by the Australian Academy of Science (PrimaryConnections) is protected by the Privacy Act 1988. When you browse the PrimaryConnections website, you do so anonymously; we don't collect your email address or your machine code.

PrimaryConnections does collect information from those who register for events or who purchase products or request other materials from PrimaryConnections. This information is used for sales transactions, information regarding upcoming events and products, research and evaluation, and maintaining the customer database. This information may be shared with our distributors, Abacus Educational Suppliers, but it will not be forwarded to any other organisation. If you wish to have your information removed or altered, please contact PrimaryConnections by email, phone or post.


Earlybird And Cancellation Conditions

Centralised and Individualised workshops

Registrations with payment received more than 14 days prior to the course are eligible for the discounted Earlybird rates. Registrations and/or payments less than 13 days prior to the course will be invoiced and charged at the Regular rate. Cancellations must be notified in writing (by email).

Cancellations received less than 14 working days before the course will incur a $110 (inclusive of GST) cancellation fee per participant. Places are transferable. Please advise any changes prior to the course.

If there are insufficient numbers to hold the event, you will be notified with the option to transfer at no cost to another course or receive a full refund.

Funded Workshops

All cancellations must be notified to Primary Connections in writing by email. No expense reimbursements will be paid for registrants that do not attend, even if bookings have been made.

Places are transferable to another participant. Please advise any change of participant prior to the course commencement date.



Participants are expected to attend for the entire duration of the course and to sign the registration forms to confirm attendance. Only those participants attending for the full course will be able to claim the course as professional development.

Participants at pre-service teacher workshops must sign in and out on both days to recieve full credit for their 12-hours of participation in the course. Certificates will reflect the amount of hours attended. 


Expense Reimbursement - Funded Workshops Only

Where participants are eligible for the reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses, claims must be submitted on the Expense Claim Form within three weeks after the course. Claims not submitted by the due date will not be paid.

All expense claims must be in accordance with the relevant Travel Policy as advised when your place is confirmed, or as separately agreed in advance in writing with Primary Connections.

Special Dietary Requirements

We can cater for most dietary requirements with sufficient prior notice. Please advise us of your allergies or intolerances via emial. It is the participants responsibility to confirm dietary requirements have been catered for prior to the event.

Permission to use Comments, Testimonials, Resources, Photographs or Work Samples

You confirm that by accepting our terms and conditions you give PrimaryConnections permission to use comments, testimonials, photographs, work samples and teacher resources gathered and created at our events in PrimaryConnections resources. They might be used in one, or more, of the following; curriculum resource units,  for research and evaluation purposes, newsletters, professional learning materials, the PrimaryConnections website, CD, DVD and other promotional material.

If they are used on the PrimaryConnections website, CD, DVD and/or promotional materials, you need to be aware of the following: - Testimonials, photographs and work samples can be copied and used by any web user; - Once testimonials, photographs or work samples have been published on the web, there is no control over subsequent use and disclosure; and - Testimonials, photographs and work samples will be accessible to millions of people around the world.

Permitted Use

PrimaryConnections Professional Learning materials (hard copy or digital) are for use in the conduct of professional learning workshops. All such workshops must use the materials as presented without modification. You may only reproduce the resource sheets for use in the workshops you facilitate.

The workshops and the resource sheets you provide must be done free of charge. Resource sheets may only be provided as a hard-copy handout. Electronic distribution is not permitted.

Any workshop you facilitate and/or resources you provide must be done without modification.

It is not permitted to run workshops using the PrimaryConnections Professional Learning materials unless you have first trained as a Professional Learning Facilitator, Tertiary Facilitator or attended a Curriculum Leader workshop facilitated directly by PrimaryConnections.

Registered Trademarks

The image of the Dome building, and the logos of both the Academy and PrimaryConnections, are registered trademarks of the Australian Academy of Science and may not be used without prior written permission from the Academy.

The words ‘PrimaryConnections’ and ‘PrimaryConnections: Linking Science with literacy’ are registered trademarks and may not be used without prior written permission from the Academy.

Commercial Use

In limited circumstances, the Academy may authorise the use of the PrimaryConnections Professional Learning materials and/or the use of its registered trademarks for commercial purposes, such as to advertise or run workshops where fees are charged. Any such authorisation will be in the form of a detailed written agreement.
