• examine the effects of a volcanic eruption
• explore the relationship between the shape of a volcano and lava viscosity
• discuss the potential benefits and risks of living near volcanoes
• use data to draw conclusions about the geological events

Students apply their new learning by:

• analysing data and conducting research into the locations of volcanoes around the world and the factors that cause them to occur in the locations
